This is a protest that happened a couple days ago in Phoenix but it’s part of a, supposedly, nationwide protest in which Occupiers focus on ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council. You can read background on the group here. Essentially they’re a bunch of conservative state legislators that get together to push federalism and free markets. Sounds like the Occupiers have some kangaroo trials in mind for ALEC members followed by re-education via hard labor.

Obama: People Don’t Get Rich On Their Own, They’re Successful Because Of The Federal Government…

Via: Weaselzippers, He’s about as clueless as it gets.

(Fox News) — President Obama tells a college audience that people don’t get rich on their own. Obama’s point that without government and paying your fair share, ultimately the successful wouldn’t be able to get where they are.

“We do not begrudge wealth in this country. I want everybody here to do well. We aspire to financial success, but we also understand that we’re not successful just by ourselves,” President Obama said at a campaign event in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday morning.

“We’re successful because somebody started the University of Michigan. We’re successful because somebody made an investment in all the federal research labs that created the internet. We’re successful because we have an outstanding military that costs money. We’re successful because somebody built roads and bridges. And laid broadband lines and these things didn’t just happen on their own. And if we all understand that we’ve got to pay for this stuff, it makes sense for those of us who’ve done best to do our fair share and to try to pass off that bill on to somebody else, that’s not right. That’s not who we are,” he said.

Rep. Gohmert: Obama Likes ‘Yelling About Congress’ More Than Leading

Via: Newsmax

Rep. Louie Gohmert tells Newsmax that President Barack Obama is using “terrible” class warfare to divide America and likes “yelling about Congress” more than he likes leading.

“He is playing class warfare, and I have been really hurt for America as I’ve seen our president basically take a page out of the playbook of Darth Vader’s leader, the evil emperor, when he was saying, ‘Yes, feel the hatred,’” the Texas Republican says.

“This president says look around, see things you want. You ought to be jealous of what they have. Help us push legislation that takes their money away and gives it to you,” Gohmert says in an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV.

Story continues below the video.

Also during the interview, Gohmert said Obama definitely can be beaten in November if Republicans show that “we are people of principle.”

Gohmert, who was elected in 2004, is a member of the Judiciary Committee.

Turning to President Obama’s request to raise the debt ceiling again, he says: “We’ll vote not to allow the debt ceiling to be raised, but because of the poor manner in which this debt ceiling bill was structured back in August, it’s not going to stop the debt ceiling from being raised.

“It is outrageous and we should never have allowed our national security to be put on the table as a bargaining chip. Our leadership apparently thought that by putting our national security on the table and requiring Democrats to put Medicare on the table, the Democrats would never allow the sequestration of Medicare. But these are the same guys who cut Medicare $500 billion in Obamacare.

“To allow the cuts to defense at a time when we’re at war is outrageous and we could do what needs to be done without raising the debt ceiling. It’s what we should do.”

Gohmert has been outspoken in charging Obama with engaging in class warfare by targeting wealthier Americans for tax increases.

“Instead, he ought to be uniting America,” he says.

“We ought to encourage everyone to want to do better for themselves, not to encourage envy and jealousy. This class warfare stuff is terrible.”

The president came to Congress and “demanded it pass his American Jobs Act when it didn’t exist,” Gohmert says. “He didn’t even have an American Jobs Act when he demanded it. Then he spends millions of taxpayer dollars to go around America demanding that we pass a bill that he had not written.

“For that man to go around the country and demonize Congress for not passing a bill that was not yet written pretty much shows conclusive evidence that this man is a divider. He likes yelling about Congress more than he likes leading.”

Gohmert also takes Obama to task over the deal to extend the payroll tax cuts for two months.

“It was pretty amazing to have heard President Obama demand a full year payroll tax cut extension and the House gives him that, and then he has the nerve to turn around and demonize Republicans in the House because we gave him what he asked for. And the Senate only gave it for two months and yet he praises them.

“We need to be smarter. Obviously the mainstream media is going to do whatever they can to help Barack Obama be re-elected, but we have to be smart enough to recognize that.”

Obama has delayed a decision on whether to allow construction of the Keystone pipeline to bring oil from Canada to American refineries. Gohmert insists Congress needs to push ahead to force a decision.

“We need Canada’s oil,” he declares. “We need those jobs.”

He also dismisses claims from some on the left that oil sent by pipeline to refineries in Texas won’t be for domestic use.

“They can say all they want but when that oil comes into America from Canada and is refined in American refineries, it’s certainly going to find use in the United States.”

Switching to politics, Gohmert says Republicans “absolutely should hang on to the majority in the House and we should win a majority in the Senate. It’s in our hands.”

And as far as ousting Obama from the White House, Gohmert tells Newsmax: “He is beatable, but we have to stand on what we believe and not try to placate people on the left.

“If we stand on what we believe, and we show that we are people of principle, then Obama will be beat — no matter what the mainstream [media] does to try to protect him.

“Americans are smart enough. They will recognize people of principle. We’ve just got to show them that is what a Republican would be.”
