UPS employees restrained from expressing views on the president’s speech

President Obama was at a UPS facility on East Arby today (leading to the shutdown of the northbound lane of Las Vegas Boulevard between about George Crockett and Arby) to talk about natural gas and … prosperity. Or something.

Here’s a verbatim report from the White House press corps “Pool 3″ covering the president’s visit to Las Vegas:

“Still at UPS, the president is doing his interview with ABC and pool is holding at the event site.

“A couple of UPS employees from the crowd were happy to talk to your pool, but three people who said they represented UPS came and told them they were not allowed to express their opinions about President Obama or the policies he was discussing. The company officials escorted the two workers away and refused to provide their own names.

“Cara Gerhardt Ross of UPS public relations came over to say the company policy is to pre-approve media interviews. She offered to make someone of her choosing available to talk but not to bring the original employees back to finish their comments.”

Well, isn’t that special.
