Tom Tancredo will be joining various Tea Party groups to protest Big Government waste and unnecessary spending, this Friday, Nov. 25 at the Sports Authority parking lot at 10:00 a.m.
When told about the protest, Tancredo said “I have been complaining about this since I saw the beginning of the construction.” The project has cost taxpayers over 3 million dollars in tax payer funds.
From the Organizer, Peter Boddie (Pundit Pete Press Service):
This is an unnecessary $3 million project built by Jefferson County mostly with federal funds. It is a perfect example of government waste and most people in South Jeffco who have driven by it think it’s a joke, or worse. It’s been dubbed the “Bridge to Nowhere” because it connects two parking lots that few would ever have reason to walk between. I have included news links below about the bridge and the government waste.
Our idea is to have a simple protest at the bridge this Friday, November 25, starting at 10 AM and continuing for about an hour. The purpose for the protest is as follows:
· To highlight government waste and spending and to keep this issue in the public eye.
· To promote voting for conservatives in the next election (and primaries) and keep that message alive.
· To invigorate the Tea Party movement by creating a local event.
· To inspire Tea Party groups nationally to do similar protests by filming our protest and posting it.
· To give attention to the Tea Party and let people know we are still here and We Ain’t Goin’ Away (inspiring video). We hope that many folks from your Tea Party groups and friends can come. We hope to have part of the group (10 to 20 people) help to display some flash card messages on the bridge which look good on video and get the point across. We decided not to go with big banners due to cost, plus some logistical issues. We have already bought poster board, so there is no need for folks to bring that, unless they want to carry some personal signs, which we encourage.
We will meet in the parking lot in front of the Sports Authority at the NE corner of Wadsworth Blvd and Bowles (east side of the pedestrian bridge).
It would be great if a few can show up between 9:30 and 10:00 AM to help organize. We hope to start the protest at 10 AM with the flash card message at 10:30. Plan on staying about an hour after the protest starts. People can go shopping or meet for lunch at a local restaurant.
This will be fun. Please RSVP with your responses and some estimate of how many may come. We need at least 10 to 15 people to pull this off, but 500 would be much better.
Send out the notice to all local Tea Party contacts and groups that you know, and cc me at Pete@punditpete.com.
Thanks for your help.
