Eh, at least Nancy Pelosi isn’t trying to hide it that she wants to alter the First Amendment, that cherished declaration of the right to free speech:

“We have a clear agenda in this regard: [DISCLOSE], reform the system reducing the [role] of money in campaigns, and amend the Constitution to rid it of this ability for special interests to use secret, unlimited, huge amounts of money flowing to campaigns,” Pelosi said at her Thursday press briefing. “I think one of the presenters [at a Democratic forum on amending the Constitution] yesterday said that the Supreme Court had unleashed a predator that was oozing slime into the political system, and that, indeed, is not an exaggeration,” said Pelosi. “Our Founders had an idea. It was called democracy. It said elections are determined by the people, the voice and the vote of the people, not by the bankrolls of the privileged few. This Supreme Court decision flies in the face of our Founders’ vision and we want to reverse it.”

The Supreme Court “decision” to which she refers is the SCOTUS majority opinion inCitizens United. It ought to go without saying, but amending the First Amendment to allow Congress to regulate corporate political speech would significantly abridge the freedom of the press. Why? As CNSNews.com’s Terence Jeffrey writes, “Television networks, newspapers, publishing houses, movie studios and think tanks, as well as political action committees, are usually organized as, or elements of, corporations.” Oh well, say Pelosi and other Democrats behind this three-pronged effort to rid the country of the Citizens United decision once and for all. Maryland Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards perhaps summed up the liberal position on this most clearly: “I mean, in my view, a corporation is not a person. It is not an individual. The rights that it has are those that are granted by the state, granted by the, by the Congress.” Ms. Edwards misses a crucial point: The functions of government (what you might call the “rights” of government not in the original, inalienable sense, but in the sense of being the appropriate purview of government) are those that are granted by the people, with whom all power ultimately resides. If corporations as such don’t have natural rights (and I’d agree that they don’t, but the individuals that comprise them still do, including the right to pool their money for the purpose of political speech), then Congress certainly doesn’t have any rights of its own, either, including the right to regulate corporate political speech. Fortunately, it seems highly unlikely that the people would grant Congress that ability through the amendment process — but trust Pelosi to continue to push for it.

Nancy Pelosi Pushes Agenda 21 On House Floor

Via: Noisyroom

English: Speaker Nancy Pelosi Speaks to Colleg...

What you are about to see in this video is Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spearheading HC Res 353 on the House floor to pursue United Nations (UN) Agenda 21. She calls out “Agenda 21” twice and clearly states that it is the “United Nations Sustainable Development” program.

Advance to 11:43:30 on the video and watch until 11:51:48. Representative Eliot Engel (D-NY) speaks first, Nancy Pelosi speaks next and WM Broomfield (R-MI) speaks last. They all use the term “Agenda 21” and they all state it is from the “United Nations.”

C-SPAN Video Library – House Session October 02, 1992

The bill is described on the House floor as follows:

H.C.Res. 353: A bill to expressing the sense of the Congress that the United States should assume a strong leadership role in implementing the decisions made at the Earth Summit by developing a national strategy to implement Agenda Twenty-One and other Earth Summit agreements through domestic policy and foreign policy, by cooperating with all countries to identify and initiate further agreements to protect the global environment, and by supporting and participating in a high-level United Nations Sustainable Development Commission. [Emphasis added]

There is simply no other way to state this… Progressives lie. Their continuous denial that UN Agenda 21 exists defies their own words; it exists, they know it and they were the ones pushing it – by name.

We know there are Progressives on both sides of the aisle, so it is not surprising that they have a Republican stooge (WM Broomfield) on their side.

In the past twenty years, they have come a long way. Agenda 21 is being implemented by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) throughout our country. To find out whether they have invaded your city/county, ICLEI Global Members provides the list. Notice that the United States has the largest number of Agenda 21 geographic locations of any other participating country. Other countries continue to mine and drill for their natural resources, but Obama chokes off access to our resources. If you do not believe it, go to your local gas station and check out the price of gasoline. It was $1.83 per gallon when Obama took office.

It is important that you know that Article 1, Section 10 of the US Constitution prohibits states and their subdivisions from entering into alliances with foreign operatives. ICLEI is a foreign operative; hence, Agenda 21 is in direct violation of the US Constitution.

A key feature of Agenda 21 is to end property rights in our country and justify/mandate control of where and how we live and work. It is also a redistributive program whereby it transfers America’s wealth to the UN oligarchy and other countries as it diminishes our way of life to that of a third world country.

By design, Agenda 21 requires the death of free market capitalism. Why else would Obama continue to destroy our free market system, place more and more private industries and land under government control and broaden Crony Capitalism? Agenda 21 is a vehicle to achieve a transformation of America into something else that will be run by a global oligarchy.

If you think Conservatives are the only ones who are aware and fighting against implementation of Agenda 21, think again. Check out: DEMOCRATS AGAINST U. N. AGENDA 21.

Nancy Pelosi pushed Agenda 21 – by name – on the House floor and Progressives can no longer deny its existence. Agenda 21 is part of the Progressive agenda that is destroying our country. Wake up and get involved; search for a 912/Tea Party group near you and join the fight to preserve the last vestige of the land of the free and home of the brave.

Rep. Allen West – “Obama, Reid, Pelosi, get the hell out of the USA”

“This is a battlefield, that we must stand upon. We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, (audience boos) and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain’t on the table,” West said. “Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America.”

Nancy dear, what happened? Did Occupy hit a little too close to home?

Nancy Pelosi: God bless occupy Wall Street protestors

Pelosi: ‘We Don’t Really Have Much of A Connection’ With Occupy

White House locked down because of ‘smoking objects’

The White House was locked down Tuesday night because of “smoking objects” found near the North Portico as hundreds of protesters rallied outside the executive mansion, Secret Service officials said. “We had approximately 1,000 to 1,500 protesters from Occupy D.C. on the fence line. There were no arrests but what we believe … was a smoke bomb was thrown over the fence,” said Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie. Witnesses said the Secret Service moved people from the area as they investigated what was thrown. “Basically, we took the appropriate measures to clear the scene, working with the Metropolitan Police and Park Police,” Ogilvie said. President Barack Obama was a few blocks away, having dinner with first lady Michelle Obama and friends to celebrate her 48th birthday at BLT Steak. The Obamas returned to the White House at 9:42 p.m. without incident, according to a pool report. The president generally arrives and departs from the South Portico, on the opposite side of the White House from Tuesday’s incident. (Politico)

Here is how things went down yesterday with the so-called “Occupiers”

Pelosi Distances Dems From Occupy ‘We Don’t Really Have Much of A Connection’

This morning, Politico Chief White House Correspondent Mike Allen interviewed House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for Politico’s “Playbook Breakfast.” The discussion turned to the topic of Occupy DC and their attempt to disrupt Congress. Pressed on whether she was worried about this and what she thought the message of Occupy was Pelosi distanced herself from the movement stating ‘We don’t really have much of a connection with the Occupy’ and declaring the tea party’ as ‘wholly owned subsidary of the Republican Party’ “As opposed to the tea party which was a wholly owned subsidary of the Republican party, we don’t really have much of a connection with the Occupy.” (Fox  Nation)

Wait, How Did Pelosi Get in on the Visa IPO?

Big Government, by Mike Flynn

Last night, 60 Minutes aired its report on possible insider trading by Members of Congress. A principal focus of the report was House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her participation in an IPO of Visa, one of the hottest IPOs in recent years. Reporter Steve Kroft questioned Leader Pelosi recently at a press conference about her investment and its possible impact on credit card legislation before the House during her term as Speaker.

I will have much more to say on this soon, as the legislative maneuvering around the recent credit card bill is a rich narrative and suggests there may be something to Kroft’s suspicions. For now, though, I have a more fundamental question: How did Nancy Pelosi get access to Visa’s IPO in the first place?

Participation in a stocks IPO, i.e. Initial Public Offering, is one of the more sought after trades on Wall Street. Often, an IPO investor is able to get into a stock at a relatively low price and realize an almost immediate gain once trading commences, especially if the IPO is “hot” or, rather oversubscribed, meaning more investors wanted shares than were available. Visa’s IPO was blockbuster-level “hot.” As reported byThe New York Times:

Visa‘s blockbuster initial public offering is currently oversubscribed for its expected trading start on March 20, Scott Sweet of the research firm IPO Boutique told MarketWatch.

Mr. Sweet told the publication that the I.P.O. is drawing “extreme demand.”

It is very difficult for any individual investors to participate in an IPO, as most of the shares are reserved for major brokerage clients, institutional investors and pension funds. It is so difficult, in fact, the SEC has published an “FAQ” on why it is so difficult for individual investors to participate in IPOs:

The underwriters and the company that issues the shares control the IPO process. They have wide latitude in allocating IPO shares. The SEC does not regulate the business decision of how IPO shares are allocated.

Somebody, somewhere decided to allow Nancy Pelosi-or her husband-participate in what was the most anticipated IPO that year. It could have been one of the underwriters selected by Visa to manage its IPO or it could have been Visa itself that awarded the Pelosis the coveted shares. Who was it? And, did they approach Pelosi or did Pelosi approach them?

In Politico’s attempt to white-wash the burgeoning scandal, they look past the IPO and simply report:

Paul Pelosi, husband of the then-speaker, bought $2 million worth of Visa stock in March 2008.

They completely fail to note or report that Paul Pelosi’s purchase of these shares was an opportunity that the overwhelming majority of investors didn’t have. How were he and his wife, then-Speaker of the House, so lucky?

It is an important question, because Politico does go on to note:

Under House rules, lawmakers are prohibited from using their official position “for personal gain.” This ban includes instances when a lawmaker uses “his political influence, the influence of his position … to make pecuniary gains” or take any official action that affects their own personal finances, the House Ethics Manual states.

So, again, how did Pelosi get access to Visa’s IPO? Did it have anything at all to do with her legislative position? Might be a question worth asking.

60 Minutes Working on Pelosi Investigation?

November 3, 2011: Steve Kroft asked Pelosi about conflict of interest while she was Speaker. Looks like I’m not the only one that questions the vast amount of growth to Pelosi’s wealth. What seems to be the question is, did Nancy Pelosi and husband Paul benefit form laws that were pushed through by Nancy Pelosi. Particularly the Obamacare Law. Which would be considered inside trading, depending on the dates of the trades.

Pelosi’s wealth grows by 62 percent
The Hill By Kevin Bogardus

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) saw her net worth rise 62 percent last year, cementing her status as one of the wealthiest members of Congress.

Pelosi was worth at least $35.2 million in the 2010 calendar year, according to a financial disclosure report released Wednesday. She reported a minimum of $43.4 million in assets and about $8.2 milion in liabilities.

For 2009, Pelosi reported a minimum net worth of $21.7 million.

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) also remained a multimillionaire. He reported that his minimum net worth in 2010 was close to $2.1 million, with zero liabilities. His 2009 minimum net worth was more than $1.8 million.
Forms disclosing the assets and liabilities of lawmakers for the 2010 calendar year were released Wednesday. The forms give a good estimate of lawmaker wealth, though they show ranges and not precise values for stocks, pension plans, vacation homes and other assets of lawmakers.

Pelosi saw her wealth rise due to some stock gains and real estate investments made by her husband, Paul.

Apple stock owned by Pelosi’s spouse rose from at least $500,000 in 2009 to $1 million in 2010. The minority leader’s husband also took a bigger stake in Matthews International Capital Management — worth at least $5 million last year, compared to $1 million in 2009 — and his investment in some undeveloped residential real estate in Sacramento, Calif., jumped to at least $5 million in value.

Paul Pelosi also has sizable assets in the United Football League, including $1 million in a partnership interest in a Jacksonville, Fla., franchise and $5 million in a partnership interest for the Sacramento Lions.

Newt Gingrich: Nancy Pelosi ‘Lied,’ ‘Despicable,’ ‘Dishonest,’ ‘Vicious,’ ‘Trivial’

This is old, but thought is was worth another listen:

lookhearsee ABC News Rick Klein reports: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today offered a blistering critique of House Speaker Nancy Pelosis handling of oversight on harsh interrogation tactics, in a major escalation of partisan attacks being aimed at Pelosi.

In an interview with ABC News Radios Marcus Wilson, Gingrich, R-Ga., said Pelosi, D-Calif., has lied to the House in claiming that she was never briefed by the CIA about the Bush administrations use of waterboarding and other harsh tactics.

“I think she has lied to the House, and I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don’t think the Speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters, Gingrich said.

He continued: “I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

“She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior.”

Speaker Pelosi‘s the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses, Gingrich said. The fact is she either didn’t do her job, or she did do her job and she’s now afraid to tell the truth.

Pelosi yesterday accused the CIA of giving her inaccurate and incomplete information on the use of waterboarding and other harsh interrogation tactics by the Bush administration, saying that CIA officials are guilty of misleading the Congress of the United States.

Her recollection is contradicted by an intelligence report sent to Congress last week, which said Pelosi was briefed on enhanced interrogation techniques that had been employed in September 2002.

Gingrich also says that playing politics around anti-terror techniques could get a lot of people killed.

“This is really, really dangerous, and it is going to get a lot of people killed, if we dont call a halt to it.”
