Flashback: Obama Warned Republicans, “Lay Off My Wife”…

This was a few months after Mooch declared, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country.”

(May 19, 2008) — Sen. Barack Obama ripped into a Republican ad today that targets comments made by his wife, Michelle, and called the GOP tactic “low class” and “detestable.”

The Illinois senator told “Good Morning America” that he expects hardball tactics from the Republicans if he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.

“But I also think these folks should lay off my wife,” he told “GMA” as his wife chuckled beside him.

Obama told “GMA” that he believes he will win a majority of the Democratic delegates once the votes are counted after Tuesday’s primaries in Kentucky and Oregon. Obama is favored in Oregon while rival Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York is expected to win Kentucky.

Obama was careful not to act as if he had already clinched the nomination, but he also tried to present himself as the candidate who will be taking on Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona in the fall.

The Republicans seem to have come to the same conclusion and a GOP Internet campaign in Tennessee has an ad featuring Michelle Obama’s comments during the long Democratic campaign that “for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.”

Michelle Obama was asked about the ad on “GMA,” but her husband said, “Let me just interject on this.”

New Mexico’s Rail Runner commuter rail raising fares, faces financial questions

A little off subject here, but just had to post this. Gov. Hickenlooper are you listening. These fast rail projects are a disastrous waste of tax payer dollars. Who even knew that New Mexico with it’s mostly rural population even had a rail system. Have you driven through New Mexico lately. It is a wide open, sparsely populated state. Gov. Bill Richardson somehow conned the taxpayers of New Mexico to put up the money for this boondoggle. And just as every other form of mass transportation, they are out of money and now have to raise rates. As is always the case, a large percentage of tax dollars to serve the few.

Santa Fe, N.M. — New Mexico‘s commuter rail service is caught in a budget squeeze that has state officials questioning its costs and who benefits from an investment in mass transit estimated to exceed $1 billion when the project’s bonds are paid off in 15 years.

Supporters say the train system can help reduce highway congestion by getting commuters out of their cars, delay the need for more roads and deliver an economic boost by shuttling visitors to Santa Fe.

To critics, the rail line drains taxpayer resources at a time when New Mexico is scrambling to pay for road maintenance and public education.

Senate President Tim Jennings, a Roswell Democrat, suggests the Rail Runner be called “Richardson’s folly.” He’s referring to former Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson, who championed the rail project.

Obama Administration Pulls All References To Islam From Terror Training Materials…

Shockingly, this was in response to complaints from CAIR.

(Yahoo! News) — Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole confirmed on Wednesday that the Obama administration was pulling back all training materials used for the law enforcement and national security communities, in order to eliminate all references to Islam that some Muslim groups have claimed are offensive.

“I recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security,” Cole told a panel at the George Washington University law school.

The move comes after complaints from advocacy organizations including the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and others identified as Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the 2004 Holy Land Foundation terror fundraising trial.

In a Wednesday Los Angeles Times op-ed, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) president Salam al-Marayati threatened the FBI with a total cutoff of cooperation between American Muslims and law enforcement if the agency failed to revise its law enforcement training materials.

Maintaining the training materials in their current state “will undermine the relationship between law enforcement and the Muslim American community,” al-Marayati wrote.

Multiple online sources detail MPAC’s close alignment with CAIR.

In his op-ed, Al-Marayati demanded that the Justice Department and the FBI “issue a clear and unequivocal apology to the Muslim American community” and “establish a thorough and transparent vetting process in selecting its trainers and materials.”

‘Future Crime’ program called Future Attribute Screening Technology are being developed by Big Sis and DHS

DHS is currently testing a pre-crime system. It is currently voluntary, but what is the point of testing it if it will never be used on the general public? “Minority Report” may be about to come real.

(CNET)Updated 2:12 p.m. PT: An internal U.S. Department of Homeland Security document indicates that a controversial program designed to predict whether a person will commit a crime is already being tested on some members of the public voluntarily, CNET has learned.

If this sounds a bit like the Tom Cruise movie called “Minority Report,” or the CBS drama “Person of Interest,” it is. But where “Minority Report” author Philip K. Dick enlisted psychics to predict crimes, DHS is betting on algorithms: it’s building a “prototype screening facility” that it hopes will use factors such as ethnicity, gender, breathing, and heart rate to “detect cues indicative of mal-intent.”

The latest developments, which reveal efforts to “collect, process, or retain information on” members of “the public,” came to light through an internal DHS document obtained under open-government laws by the Electronic Privacy Information Center. DHS calls its “pre-crime” system Future Attribute Screening Technology, or FAST.

California Now Allows College Aid to Illegal Aliens

Tammy Bruce

I have got to get out of here. Just the economic disaster of this is mindboggling. We already have in-state tuition rates for illegals, this is about allow tax payer funded college aid and loans to illegals, in a state where we are near collapse economically. In other words, there is no freaking money!
California Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday signed a bill giving illegal immigrant college students access to state-funded financial aid, the second half of two-part legislation known as the “Dream Act.”

The controversial measure, which passed the Democrat-controlled legislature on a party-line vote in September, represents a victory for immigrant-rights activists ahead of the 2012 presidential election. California is the nation’s most populous state.

Only two other states, Texas and New Mexico, allow illegal immigrants to qualify for state financial aid for college, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures…
Opponents of the California Dream Act have argued that public funds should not be used to help illegal immigrants, especially as California faces deep budget woes that have prompted cuts in education and higher tuitions at the state’s public colleges and universities.

“Citizens are having a hard enough time getting the classes they need now,” Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Hesperia Republican, wrote in a September 9 letter to Brown urging him to veto the legislation.

“(California already offers) students in the country illegally in-state tuition; legally documented students from the next state over can only dream of such a benefit,” Donnelly said.

Obama sending more unarmed agents into Mexico

Examiner.com

On Friday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, John Morton announced that his agency is sending an additional 20 agents to Mexico to combat the growing threat from the cartels.

Of course, these new agents will be unarmed.

When reporters brought up the fact that Agent Jaime Zapata was recently gunned down by Zetas gunmen and unable to defend himself, Morton responded: “We’re very cognizant of the fact that we’re sending people into a place that’s dangerous and we’re taking a number of security steps.”

Current Mexican law bans foreign law enforcement agents from carrying weapons, even when working on an investigation–a policy over which President Obama recently expressed his approval.
