U.S. Military to the Border…OUR Border, For a Change

El Camino del Diablo, border patrol. Good morn...

Two months ago the U.S. Border Patrol visited property owners near the New Mexico-Arizona-Mexican border seeking signed permission to allow the U.S. military to enter their property.  The Border Patrol can enter any private property within 25 miles of the border, the U.S. military needs permission.  Some owners agreed while others did not.

Joint Task Force North begins deploying in that area next week.

JTF North is the DoD organization tasked to support our nation’s federal law enforcement agencies in the identification and interdiction of suspected transnational threats within and along the approaches to the continental United States. Transnational threats are those activities that involve international terrorism, narco-trafficking, alien smuggling, weapons of mass destruction, and includes the delivery systems for such weapons that threaten the national security of the United States.

Why now?

Thanksgiving Reminds Us What Is Great About America

Big Gvernment by John Loudon

I love Thanksgiving.  It is uniquely American and uniquely right.  We celebrate God and Country and enjoy family time absent the stress and distraction of the more commercialized holidays.  There is no need to deconstruct “Jesus Clause” or explain to our children that our Lord and Savior rising from the grave has nothing to do with eggs and bunnies.  Who came up with that bunny laying egg thing anyway?

Recently, I visited with a man from Mexico who is in the U.S. legally, on a work assignment for a large corporation.  He was telling me how much he was looking forward to his first American Thanksgiving.  He will celebrate with friends either at their home or the others’.  I asked about the menu.  “Roast turkey with all of the trimmings” he quickly replied with a contagious enthusiasm.  This, from a man whose favorite staple is tamales.  He has never tasted a real roasted turkey, the American way.  I was going to ask about deep frying it…next year, I thought.

His simple menu selection and his use of the word “trimmings” flooded my mind instantly with thoughts about that unique dish, roasted Turkey.  We have celebrated Thanksgiving and that fine tryptophane laden meat at different times, with friends from Germany and friends from Russia.  It is always great to talk about the other traditions that are uniquely American, and more than just food.

I remember water skiing with friends from Europe on the amazing Lake of the Ozarks.  We rented a boat, filled a cooler with all kinds of libations, and enjoyed the heck out of a sunny July day.  As we sat quietly taking a break from the action and taking note of all the beautiful lakefront homes, they began lamenting how this would never be allowed in Europe.

In Europe, if you tried to put a motorized boat on a lake, the environmentalists would decry the degredation to the environment and pass laws to stop you.  If you tried to build a house on a lake, the communists would insist that the land belonged to all of the people and no one privately.  They went on, but the point should be clear.  In America, we are defined by putting individual rights first, starting with the Pilgrim’s quest for a place in which religious worship was every man’s exclusive domain.  These rights extend far beyond that to include the individual’s right to own land and be secure in that land and enjoy it for his or her own use.  Our uniquely American Government is designed on “negative rights”, or the right to be free FROM government, as opposed to the positive rights the socialists pursuit as to be given BY government.

If government can give you access to a Lake, then it can surely bar access from that same Lake.  This is true with welfare, education, health care, and any other positive “right” the communists demand.  Not in America!  Something as mundane as water skiing takes on an entire new meaning when you consider that people want to take that right from you, especially when you consider their widespread success World-wide.

So as you enjoy a uniquely American roasted turkey, and reflect upon the freedom you have to partake in your favorite hobbies, do one thing.  Please take a look at your kids and promise them that you will damn well do your best to make sure they and the successive generations of Americans can enjoy roasted turkey and the same freedoms you do today before some soulless commmie takes away these liberties in the name of positive rights.

While you are at it, the next time you see a commie, or some OWS goof, tell him to go eat sprouts or tofu or whatever politically correct sorry excuse for a staple food he eats.  Then make haste to the biggest juiciest, hormone inspired 100% pure American beef burger you can find and be sure to slap on some American cheese and plenty of bacon.  As you savor that first bite, thank God for blessing your America and promise Him too, that you will fight!

Arizona: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Proposes Closing One-Half Million Acres of Public Land to Target Shooting

Vegetation in Sonoran Desert National Monument...

Image via Wikipedia

NRA

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released a plan for the future management of nearly 1.4 million acres located southwest of Phoenix in parts of Maricopa, Pinal, Pima, Gila and Yuma Counties.  Of that total, over 486,000 acres are within the Sonoran Desert National Monument (SDMN) which the BLM proposes to close to target shooters.  Presently, some 63 sites in the national monument are used by shooters for their recreational activity.  The planning area outside of the SDNM will remain open to target shooting.  The plan also addresses other issues of importance to shooters and hunters including the designation of roads and trails for motorized vehicles and areas that could be managed as wilderness.

If you recreate in the SDNM, especially if you enjoy recreational shooting, getting involved in this planning process is of paramount importance.  This is not the first time that the BLM has attempted to close an entire national monument to shooters, making no attempt to provide places for and access to shooting sites.  One-half million acres closed to one segment of the recreating public is unacceptable.  The plan proposes four management alternatives in addition to Alternative A which is the “No Action” (or present conditions) alternative.  Alternative B is the most recreation-friendly and like Alternative C, it will leave open some areas of the SDNM to target shooting.  Alternatives D and E close the SDNM permanently.

The public comment period is open through November 25.  Comments can be faxed to (623) 580-5580 or mailed to BLM, Phoenix District Office, ATTN:  LS-SDNM RMP, 21605 North 7th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027.  The draft plan can be found at:  http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/planning/son_des.html.

Below is the schedule of public meetings and contact information for the BLM.  Please take the time to attend one of the scheduled meetings to show support for keeping public lands open for all the public, including target shooters, and to learn more about how this plan will affect your future enjoyment of these lands.

Two HUGE intel leads in my email box this morning from way-back contacts that I’ve had for years, that are actually somewhat connected concepts.

1. File this one under “Now It All Makes Sense.” A Missouri farming and ranching contact just got off a conference call wherein he was informed that the federal government is sending out letters to all of the flooded out farmers in the Missouri River flood plain and bottoms notifying them that the Army Corps of Engineers will offer to BUY THEIR LAND.

Intentionally flood massive acreage of highly productive farmground. Destroy people’s communities and homes. Catch them while they are desperate and afraid and then swoop in and buy the ground cheap. Those evil sons of bitches.

After Birds Point levee blown

Splash travels 600 miles to flood parts of New Orleans, forcing evacuations.

2. Speaking of evil sons of bitches, George Soros appears to be “investing” in farmground through the same puppet company that he used to get into the grain elevator and fertilizer business. The company is called Ospraie Capital Management and is buying up farmground in a joint venture with Teays River Investments as a partner. Here is that announcement: Click Here

Okay. Here’s the connection. This Ospraie outfit was a hedge fund specializing in commodities that was started and run by some cocky child who didn’t know how to trade bear markets and got his butt kicked into next week in the grain market of 2008. He also lost a fortune trying to trade RARE EARTH METALS. In fact, it was so bad that he had to shut his fund down because he had promised his investors that he would give them all of their investment money back if the fund lost more than 30% in one year. Whoopsie.

But it appears that Soros swooped in and saved the day because this Ospraie is the “co-investor” with Soros that bought the remnants of ConAgra’s trading operation and renamed it . . . Gavilon. In the industry, it is widely acknowledged that Ospraie IS Soros. That [CNN] article is here.

As you probably remember, Gavilon just recently bought both DeBruce Grain out of Kansas City and the biggest grain elevator company in the Pacific Northwest, thus making Soros (who is the money behind Gavilon through both his own Soros Fund Management AND his de facto control of Ospraie) the third-largest grain company in the U.S. with 280 million bushels of storage capacity, behind only Archer Daniels Midland (542 million bushels storage capacity) and Cargill (344 million bushels storage capacity).

Bottom line: Soros, through Ospraie, is buying up farmground. Please also note that the hotlink citation above is dated June 26, 2009. My contact says this has been going on for two years – and also remember what I told you about farmground prices inflating wildly, especially in Illinois. I have personally confirmed farmground in Illinois selling for $13,000 per acre within the last month, whereas that same kind of ground in Illinois was going for $5,500 per acre the day Obama was inaugurated.

UPDATE: More on the Missouri Dams
Posted by Ann Barnhardt – June 26, AD 2011 4:50 PM MST

There are folks who are confused as to how the situation with regards to the Missouri River dams could be the fault of the Army Corps of Engineers. After all, isn’t the amount of rainfall an Act of God?

This is not a FLASH flooding dynamic. This isn’t happening because it rained three feet in 24 hours. The largest factor in this flooding is the runoff coming from the melting of the snowpack in the Rocky Mountains. The snowpack is precisely measured and the number of acre-feet of water that will be drained into the Missouri River basin each spring is a precisely known value. If you don’t believe me, pull up the website for ANY ski resort. They will have DETAILED snowpack depth data updated on a near-daily basis. One could work up usable data based just off of the ski resorts – but we also have frequent and detailed snowpack measurements coming from the National Forests and National Parks. I am hard-pressed to think of a meteorological dataset that has the precision, reliability and lead time that the runoff from the snowpack has. The Army Corps of Engineers knew to the acre-foot how much water was coming, and when it would arrive (summer tends to happen at roughly the same time each year).

Knowing that we had a RECORD snowpack this year, the ACoE should have opened the Missouri dam system up starting early in the spring so as to gently and gradually draw-down the reservoirs and give each dam system enough slack to absorb the snowpack runoff. They intentionally did not do this, and citing “wildlife habitat” concerns in collusion with the Marxist-Environmentalists, they kept the reservoirs full, thus ensuring that when the snowpack runoff arrived, it would have nowhere to go. Again, this was all 100% unnecessary and 100% intentional. I don’t care how many C- affirmative action hires they have, there is absolutely no way that this was a function of being “surprised” by water that has been measured and sitting in the Rocky Mountains for MONTHS. Snowpack of Quantity X inches yields runoff of Quantity Y acre-feet. It is a liner function that any Beavis or Butthead could have looked up on a table.

I find myself worried not just about farmground, but about low-lying residential areas in both Omaha and Kansas City.

Here is a citation regarding the ACoE buyout bids on flooded farmground: KC Star Citation Here

“The feds have already stated they will NOT pay him for his losses, yet they flood his land, intentionally. This is outrageous.

[Oh, but they're willing to buy the land. How generous.]

“A similar thing is happening here in [New York]. The US Fish and Wildlife have not given up on flooding our farm land. They continue to buy up land that is along the river.”

On June 9, 2011, President Obama signed Executive Order 13575, Establishment of the White House Rural Council, with goals to take complete control of public lands and rural areas for development. This aligns with the purposes of Agenda 21, a United Nations environment and development program that removes local say in how lands and farms are managed. “Virtually every aspect of rural life seems to now be part of the government’s mission,” writes Mike Opelka.
